2016 Community Health Needs Assessment Details

Highlands Regional Medical Center is proudly an independent and not-for-profit community hospital serving Floyd, Johnson, Martin, and Magoffin Counties. To further strengthen healthcare services at highlands, our community shared with us their health concerns through the Community Health Needs Assessment. Through this report, Highlands was able to identify areas where we can better serve our community to provide greater accessibility to care, provide information and teach people about their risks and symptoms of diseases, and establish many different types of health screenings and health education resources, many of which are free. With this knowledge, we are hopeful that Highlands can effect change, help our community pro-actively manage their health and, in turn, build a healthier community.

Supporting Rural Communities Details

Highlands is proud of its rich history of community involvement and is dedicated to the citizens of eastern Kentucky. Founded over three decades ago by a group of concerned citizens from each of the four primary counties, Highlands was established as a regional medical center to provide high quality healthcare services to people living in the surrounding rural communities. In southern Floyd County, Highlands operates Harold Primary Care, a rural health clinic located in the community of Harold, KY. The clinic is staffed by a Board Certified Family Practitioner and a Certified Nurse Practitioner and offers care to rural residents that may not have a family physician or access to transportation. Services provided by the Harold Primary Care clinic are vital to Highland’s mission to make health care accessible to citizens from some of the most rural areas in Kentucky.
