Each year, nurses in Kentucky recognize their fellow nursing professionals during National Nurses Week. Employers across the state get the opportunity to select nurses for recognition at the awards banquet. To qualify, nurses must have demonstrated excellence in their nursing field that renders them deserving of the Nursing Excellence Award.

Highlands Regional Medical Center’s nursing managers nominate two nurses each year from the nursing team to be considered for the Nursing Excellence Award. Highlands Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that the 2010
nominees for the Nursing Excellence Award are Cindy Maynard, Clinical Documentation Improvement, and Sharon “Kaye” Mullins, Support Care Charge Nurse.

Cindy is recognized because of her knowledge, skill and caring behavior throughout the organization. She has been instrumental in the development of a new department that is responsible for clinical documentation improvement. She is respected by her colleagues as an invaluable team member of Highlands Regional Medical Center.

Sharon “Kaye” is recognized for her caring and compassionate attitude. Her patients frequently express their appreciation for her kindness and compassion. In the past year, Kaye has been a leader on the Support Care Unit, sharing her wealth of knowledge.

These two wonderful nurses will represent Highlands Regional Medical Center well at the state banquet.
