Prestonsburg – Focusing on the need for good health of area seniors, Highlands Regional Medical Center hosted the Highlands Senior Expo on May 6th at the Ramada Inn, Paintsville. The event was attended by close to 200 senior citizens throughout the Big Sandy region, who were welcomed by Highlands Health System Board Chairman Burl Spurlock.

The Expo included lunch and entertainment by Fred James, who reenacted the life of John Floyd; and a presentation by Highlands Regional Medical Center Chairman Ted Nairn, who discussed the growth and progress of Highlands Health System. Additionally, attendees enjoyed breakout sessions which included Appalachian Cooking, Using the Internet/Cell Phones, Diabetes Management and Nutrition, and Exercise/Stress Management.

“We appreciate the opportunity to have met with and enjoy the company of so many area seniors,” Highlands Director of Community Development Melissa Vance said. “It was an event which brought many vendors and community partners together as we address the healthcare needs of Seniors throughout the Big Sandy region.”
