Highlands Health System recently completed an extended campaign to build cancer awareness and raise funds during the annual Relay for Life. Josh Johnson, Community Development Assistant, spearheaded efforts to create a fun and unforgettable season.
Relay events kicked off in mid-May with a corn hole tournament and yard sale. Shortly after, Highlands employees raised funds during a head-shaving contest that ended with Chris Hoffman, COO, winning against a number of other competitors.
The Highlands’ Relay team of 25 participants spent a grueling 24 hours walking the track at Big Sandy Community & Technical College during the annual Relay event. Highlands’ employee efforts raised over $7,000 through the various events.
Relay for Life, an annual event sponsored by the American Cancer Society, works to raise funds and awareness for cancer victims, as well as honoring those who have been lost to this terrible disease.
