The internship and residency program at HRMC is located 45 minutes
from the Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine. Residents
and Interns have access to the PCSOM library via the internet from
the hospital. Our goal is to prepare qualified osteopathic physicians
to more effectively enter osteopathic family practice. We are committed
to the development of physicians who will further the integrity of
the osteopathic procession, and strive to become qualified, future
teachers of the profession.
A traditional rotating internship and a family practice residency
are offered, combining ambulatory and inpatient rotations. Interns
and Residents gain practice experience in the Highlands
Community Care Clinic.
We have many preceptors who are dedicated to teach and see this as
an important medical mission. Particularly strong rotations include
internal medicine, general surgery, family practice, and female reproductive
medicine. Didactics include morning report and lectures.
