July 17, 2017

Prestonsburg, KY (July 10, 2017) – Highlands Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce its recognition as a “Most Wired” hospital in the United States. The Most Wired survey is designed to measure the level of technology adoption in U.S. hospitals. The award is given by Health Forum, an American Hospital Association company.

“The Most Wired hospitals are using every available technology option to create more ways to reach their patients in order to provide access to care,” said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. “They are transforming care delivery, investing in new delivery models in order to improve quality, provide access and control costs.”

Over the past 10 years, Highlands has invested in Information Technology as a strategic goal in order to improve patient care and safety. This investment has provided the health system with tools necessary to ensure patients’ medical records are always available wherever treatment is provided.

Michael Roberts, Highlands’ Chief Information Officer, accepted the award on behalf of the health system. “This proves that our investments in technology are providing the correct tools to deliver the level of care we expect for our patients.”

“Our philosophy has always been to use IT in creative ways to make the most of our resources. The Most Wired award validates our success in creating a highly advanced, secure computer system in Eastern Kentucky,” said Roberts.

The award comes with recognition in the July H&HN (Hospitals & Health Networks) cover story and at a keynote session at the Leadership Summit. Highlands also received this award in 2016.
