New Recruits for Highlands Nursing Team

Prestonsburg, KY, March 2, 2017 – Highlands Health System would like to welcome five newly licensed nurses to our nursing team; each passed the NCLEX nursing exam in February.

  • Taylor Carty, a recent graduate from Morehead State University’s Registered Nursing Program, who has been working in the Emergency Department.
  • Haley Howell, also a MSU Registered Nursing Program graduate. Prior to graduation, Haley has worked at Highlands Regional Medical Center as a ward clerk since June 2016.
  • Justine Detrow, student intern on the Medical/Surgical Unit and graduate of the Big Sandy Community and Technical College’s LPN program.
  • Montana Blair, student intern on the Medical/Surgical Unit and graduate of the Big Sandy Community and Technical College’s LPN program.
  • Christa Slone, also a student on the Medical/Surgical Unit and graduate of the Big Sandy Community and Technical College’s LPN program.

The NCLEX examinations are designed to test the knowledge, skills, and abilities essential for the safe and effective practice of entry-level nursing. Each individual is scored by their ability to think critically about decisions involving nursing care. Highlands Health System is confident they will give optimal care and continue our mission of providing a safe hospital environment.
