The ACoS Approved Cancer Program at Highlands Regional Medical Center is provided by the Cancer Committee. This Committee consists of physicians from diagnostic and treatment specialties as well as non physicians from administrative and supportive services. Physicians' specialties include surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, diagnostic radiology and pathology. Non physician members include hospital administration, nursing, case management, quality decision support, performance improvement, cancer registry, hospice, ethics, cancer services, clinical research and palliative care.
The diversity of the Cancer Committee provides HRMC with the ability to assess and make any improvements needed in the areas of diagnosis, care, treatment, and support for cancer patients and their families.
In addition to patient care, the Cancer Committee monitors all areas at HRMC related to cancer.
