Tobacco-Free Campus

In an initiative to better serve our community, Highlands Regional Medical Center is proud to be a Tobacco-Free campus.

  • enhance patient care and health
  • decrease the risk of fire and other hazards
  • protect the health and safety of all who visit and work in our facilities

Need Assistance?
Because refraining from tobacco use may be difficult, your family physician may be able to recommend or prescribe products such as patches, gum and lozenges; nicotine inhaler (Nicotrol); nicotine nasal spray (Nicotrol NS); or other prescription-only medications aimed at breaking nicotine addition.

HRMC is a Tobacco-Free Facility
Highlands Regional Medical Center has joined other Kentucky Hospitals as well as national and state efforts to reduce the negative health effects of tobacco use on the community. Tobacco-free environments are an important step to improving the health and safety of all Kentuckians. For more than one decade, hospitals have banned smoking inside their facilities. Highlands Regional Medical Center and Consolidated Health Systems now prohibits the use of tobacco products on all owned or leased properties. This initiative also includes the elimination of designated smoking areas outside HRMC where employees, patients and visitors currently use tobacco products.

The Hospital is committed to the health and safety of employees, visitors, and patients. HRMC believes that they have a responsibility to take a leadership role on this major health issue. Tobacco use in and around hospitals poses health and safety risks for you and your family.

HRMC’s decision to go tobacco-free is not an attempt to “force” anyone to quit using tobacco products. Rather, the tobacco-free initiative is a concrete way Highlands Regional Medical Center shows their commitment to developing a healthier community.
